The Computer Centre has been trading since 1989. The company was the brainchild of Peter Harbour, his wife Kaye and their son Paul. It has gone from strength to strength through many changes within society and industry.
In June 2008 the company entered a new era. Peter & Kaye Harbour retired and the company was passed on to new blood in the forms of Neil Christie & Paul Webb, both Computer Centre employees. Neil & Paul have over 20 years collective experience in the I.T. sector and have introduced many changes to the company with new ideas such as the FREE collect and return service and lower prices. As the staff members who delt most with the public they felt that such ideas needed to be implemented in order to survive in the modern marketplace. Society isnt what it used to be and with the cost of living constantly rising such ideas are paying off. Alot of people are afraid of computers and sometimes need a friendly face to guide them through the dark times. The Computer Centre is the hand reaching through the mist willing and ready to assist those that are afraid of change and unwilling to learn about how computers can change their lives for the better.
The company has always been at 106 Station Road, Burnham-on-Crouch and will stay there for the foreseeable future. Who knows what the future holds? We are more than prepared and looking forward to finding out! |
Burnham-on-Crouch is a small town at the South-Eastern tip of the Dengie peninsula in Essex, United Kingdom. It has a population of between 7,000 and 8,000 (According to the 2001 census). It has a high school, two primary schools and various other places and organisations that put it on the map. The high school hosts a community radio station that goes by the name of Saint FM (The school itself is called St Peter's High School hence the name Saint FM) on which Paul Webb is sometimes a guest talking about I.T. issues and sometimes current affairs. The online presence for Saint FM can be found at www.saintfm.org.uk
Burnham-on-Crouch's residents vary widely in age. We usually find that alot of our customers are of the older generations. Where as younger people have grown up with I.T. and technology as a major part of their daily lives the older generations obviously have not. This is where our FREE PC Healthcheck service can come in handy. Both Neil & Paul are fortunate to have grown up around the time where computers really came into their own, hence their high skill level. The older generations are afraid of clicking willy-nilly and breaking their computer which is where we come in. Our FREE PC Healthcheck involves thorough hardware checking, etc and the best thing about it is that it doesnt cost you a penny! We pride ourselves on our work and our level of skill and we hope that we do our customers proud. We must be doing something right because we see the same faces returning again, and again, and again! |
